Monthy Gatherings 2008
A group of Bön practitioners meets every three to six weeks at various locations to practice. We chant ngöndro (preliminary practice) prayers in the style of Menri Monastery, and are working through Nyima Dakpa's book, Opening the Door to Bön. Meeting locations are rotated amongst Guelph, Toronto, and (hopefully soon) Barrie. During the summer, we have meetings in Chesley and the Collingwood area. Our meetings are open to anyone who is interested in attending. Please contact Deborah at 226.668.0558 for details.

Directors Needed!
We are currently in the process of putting together an application for not-for-profit and charity status and would like to invite an additional three general members to join our board of directors. If you would like more information, please contact Deborah at 226.668.0558.

A Call For Donations!!
Sandia Douglas, of the New Mexico group, is our monastery correspondent out in the remote hills of Dehradun, India. Sandia has been making a trip to Kundol Rinpoche's monastery annually to help take care of those whom she affectionately calls "the Manduwala Twelve". Visit our photo gallery to see Sandia's photos of her time spent at the monastery.

The Latest Report From Sandia
Our project goals are focused on meeting the needs of shelter, food and financial security. This year we have focused our efforts and funds on meeting the accomodation needs of the resident young monks. Thank you to all who have donated their time, finances, and resources. The new hostel, additional dorm rooms and bathhouse projects are nearly completed. Pam and Tashi Woser have provided funds toward the purchase of a generator for our electrical needs, and Elizabeth and Christina's family and friends from Austria have gifted us funds for a refrigerator (we are looking at a commercial grade), and Jim Bradbury purchased all the fixtures for the bathrooms. Charles Meyers graciously donated fans and electrical supplies for the three new bedrooms and the office for Lama Kyap. Tsewang Lhgyal has provided the funds for the cement to complete the floors and porches. Kundol Rinpoche has bought the tile for the bathrooms. Only the exterior painting remains to be done and then the project will be finished.

2008 - 2009 Project
Our next project is aimed at providing adequate cooking facilities. Those of you that have visited know the sad condition of our present kitchen. Cooky (Raj Kumar) never fails to provide us with three meals a day; however, having to do so for never less than 18 people on a two burner stove has proved to be quite difficult, as I am sure you can imagine.

Our plan is to incorporate the old guest house and build a large kitchen and a multi-purpose room for dining and studying, on the land behind the current structure. This will create room for food storage and living quarters for the cook. The proposed buget is below.

Supply List
The following is a list of supplies that are needed in order to complete the next building project. The cost of the supplies needed amounts to approximately US $10,857.00 in total.

Cement $1,950
Rebar/Iron $1607
Bricks $1150
Sand $650
Gravel $400
Windows $300
Doors $100
Roofing Materials $500
Labour $1300
Electrical Work $600
Labour $1300
Stove, Fridge, Sinks $700
Paint $500
Tile $800

Finally, our last goal in meeting the needs of the resident monks at Za Mongyal Yungdrung Ling is to provide them with some financial security, to create a nest egg that they can fall back on when they need to. We would like to thank those who have already made contributions: Linda McGee, Marsha Wolf, Jim Bradbury, Doug Koch, Geshe Samdrup, and Simone Meyers.

Please give as little or as much as you would like - every contribution helps! If you have any questions about the building project or how to donate funds, email Sandia.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make this monastery come to life!

Teaching Schedule 2008

Kundröl Rinpoche is currently in the U.S.

Kundröl Rinpoche Kundröl Rinpoche is the seventh incarnation of the great Kundröl Jatson Nyingpo of Tibet. Kundröl Jatson Nyingpo was a great tertön (revealer of hidden treasures) and founder of the great seat of learning Mongyal Monastery in Tibet. Since the birth of the first Kundröl Rinpoche in A.D. 1700, reincarnations of the rinpoche ("precious one") have appeared successively thereafter to uphold the wheel of the compassionate teachings of Bön for the benefit of all sentient beings. We welcome you to join us in receiving the blessings of Rinpoche's presence! Watch for updates here on this site, or send us an email and we will add you to our mailing list.
